Chai is the Indian name for tea. There is no fixed recipe for chai tea, but it usually consists of the following components:
- black tea
- sweetener
- milk or cream
- spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, pepper
You can make this mixture yourself, but to make life a little easier, we sell a pre-prepared mixture of black tea with cinnamon, cardamom, anise seed, ginger, cloves, and black pepper. The quantities and flavours of the individual herbs are perfectly matched, so all you have to do is draw the tea later and add sweeteners and milk or cream to taste.
Preparation
Our recommendation is to let the tea soak in milk instead of water: you bring a pan of milk (just over 1 cup per person) to the boil and add 1 teaspoon of our Spicy Chai per person. Let it boil and then flavor it with sweetener of your choice. A somewhat unorthodox way to make tea, but in our humble opinion the very best way to create a delicious authentic Chai.
